Erica Horowitz Biography

As a writer in her early twenties, Erica Horowitz has a special interest in women’s issues. She is a recovering binge eater whose four-year struggle with Binge Eating Disorder (and even longer struggle with food and body issues) has fueled her desire to help others in similar situations.

An undergraduate at Fordham University, Horowitz is majoring in Communications with a minor in Sociology, and will be graduating in May 2010.

Horowitz is a columnist for The Ram, Fordham’s main newspaper. Her column "New York by Night" covers a variety of nightly activities and venues in the Big Apple. She has also written for Loud.com as an intern with SRC/Universal Records.

"To say that the pain and hardships that have come with having Binge Eating Disorder have been crushing is a gigantic understatement," says Horowitz. "I know that many other women (and men) are suffering from this disorder, and I want them to know that they are not alone."

Horowitz is at "a much better place" than she was when she first started binging, but says, "I can still improve on being a healthier, more confident version of myself. And I have total faith that others can too. So why do it alone, when we can do it together?"
