Linda is an award-winning writer with more than two decades of background in speaking and writing about women and the everyday problems they face. She wrote nearly 100 articles over the course of her relationship with ThoughtCo.Linda is a recipient of the 2009 Exceptional Merit in Media Award (EMMA) from the National Women's Political Caucus for her article on gender-biased media coverage of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She was also honored twice by Women in Communications with the Clarion Award for Best Women's Issues Programming. Linda also received recognition from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Parenting Media Association.As a writer, Linda has written book reviews for Publisher's Weekly, theater reviews for Syracuse.com, and contributed work to Madavor Media's The Writer Magazine and Glacial Multimedia. She is a writing coach, offering workshops through her business, Always Wanted to Write and the Syracuse YMCA. During her career as a broadcast journalist, Linda created, produced, and hosted women's issues radio and television programs for NPR and PBS station affiliates including the award-winning talk show, Women's Voices which ran for eight years. Lowen is a member of the Women's Media Center Progressive Women's Voices program and the National Cancer Survivor's Day Speaker's Bureau.
