Females in Freeze Frame - Vanity Fair Recreates Classic Hitchcock Film Stills
I've often wondered - do today's superstars wish they could go back in time and work with some of the legendary filmmakers of the past?
Someone at Vanity Fair must have thought the same thing, because in a web exclusive they've recreated still shots of some of the greatest films of a great director, Alfred Hitchcock.
These were the movies that terrified me as a kid and delighted me as a young adult. And it's loads of fun to see who's been 'cast' to play the various iconic female roles in such classic films as Rear Window, Marnie, Rebecca, and of course Psycho. Even better - if you click the recreated still, the original photo pops up so you can compare the two.
My favorite is Jodie Foster channeling Tippi Hendren in a scene from The Birds. The photo evokes so many memories that I found myself covering my eyes. Take a look.

This was wonderful. I wonder who Hitchcock would use today as his Quintessential blonde….
Ah, such memories, good choices. The tidbits about the Man himself were interesting. I would never have guessed Hitchcock as a romantic.
He was great, wasn’t he.
Wow, I keep looking at that picture of Renee Zellweger and I can’t see HER! I’ve never seen her acting as anything special, but perhaps she is the Meryl Strep of today! Who she is just vanishes within this character pose! It’s amazing!
