I don't trust people anymore

Share Your Story: I Was Raped

By KellyAnn

The Situation and Circumstances

The rape began like this (to cut the long story short) -- he led me to the back of the woods. And then he basically said " You know I'm gonna rape you. This is why I brought you here." Then I began to cry and he said he didn't care if I cried or not. So he told me to pull the shirt and he looked at my breast and then he told me to suck his dick then he told me to pull down my pants and lay the ground and he began to rape me. He didn't wear a condom. And yes I knew him well. Actually he was a friend of a friend.

The Aftermath and Post-Rape Trauma

I didn't tell the police. The only people I told were my friends and I confronted the bitch that raped me and he said I was lying to get some money out of him. And my friends were confused because they didn't know who to believe. But he was the one lying.

Advice

  • It has affected me greatly. I wish I could do it ALL over again but I can't. I think about it everyday and even soon as I wake up. I don't trust people like that anymore. I would give advice to other rape victims stating that "you didn't deserve what happened to you, don't let it get the best of you because he has the worst to come to him. And everything he did to harm you will come back to him.

Linda Lowen, About.com Women's Issues, says:

KellyAnn, *you* didn't deserve what happened to you. Thank you for telling your story with such openness and candor. Until every woman feels comfortable speaking up, this will continue again and again and people like your rapist will walk away from these acts of violence...and probably do it again. I'm just disturbed that your friends were confused about who to believe. It *does* make trusting people hard. I hope you have the resources to seek professional help. Trust me -- talking about this with someone trained to help women get past rape and sexual assault can really change your life for the better.
