What is Sarah Palin's position on abortion?

By , About.com Guide

Question: What is Sarah Palin's position on abortion?
Answer: Sarah Palin may be the most passionately pro-life anti-choice candidate on a major-party ticket in decades. She has said repeatedly that she does not believe in abortion even in the case of rape or incest. (She is unclear regarding her position if the life of the mother were at stake.)

She has also publicly stated that Roe v. Wade is a wrong decision and one that she would like to see overturned.

As the mother of a special needs infant, she was applauded by pro-life advocates for never considering an abortion when prenatal testing revealed Down Syndrome. Within the first week of her selection as the Republican vice presidential candidate, the McCain campaign announced that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol Palin was pregnant.

These two separate incidents have cemented her reputation as a candidate who not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk when it comes to pro-life issues.
