What is John McCain's position on preventing teen pregnancy?

By Linda Lowen, About.com

Question: What is John McCain's position on preventing teen pregnancy?
Answer: John McCain does not provide any position statement on pregnancy prevention at his website JohnMcCain.com.

According to NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League, "Sen. McCain has never cosponsored or supported legislation that would prevent unintended pregnancy or reduce the need for abortion."

In 2005, McCain voted against allocating $100 million to “expand access to preventive health care services that reduce unintended pregnancy (including teen pregnancy), reduce the number of abortions, and improve access to women's health care.”

In 2006, McCain voted against legislation that would help reduce the number of teen pregnancies by providing funding for programs to teach comprehensive, medically accurate sexuality education and other programs to prevent unintended teen pregnancies.
