Q. What women's issues do you cover? Is it mostly current events, or does this site also include historical perspectives?

A. A wide range of topics fall under the 'women's issues' umbrella. To see what's covered here, look for the "Explore Women's Issues" index at the bottom of each page. Under the "By Category" heading is a listing of all available subject areas. Click through to see additional topics covered within each category. If you don't find what you want here, visit About.com Women's History where Jone Johnson Lewis will likely have what you're looking for.

Q. What if I have a question about a specific women's issues topic? Will you answer it?

A. Check the category listings to see if your question can be answered by an existing article. You may have to do some digging, but there are many articles in each category. You can submit your question, but I can't answer every inquiry personally and am unable to assist with term papers. Having said that, often reader questions form the basis for new articles and content. Submit your question -- if time allows, I may be able to answer it.

Q. Do you call yourself a feminist? Is this a feminist website?

A. I am a feminist but understand that for some women, that 8-letter "F" word doesn't fit comfortably. Yet most women readily acknowledge that they've faced gender bias in their lives. I try to write with the needs of all women in mind, so I explore politics, pop culture, motherhood, caregiving, workplace issues, challenges facing girls and teens, food obsession and body image, media influences -- you name it.

My short answer? No, this isn't a feminist website, it's a women's issues website.

Q. What do you think is the biggest issue facing women today?

A. Without a doubt, it's making our voices heard. Because generations of women were raised to fade into the background, we still struggle with the cultural imprint this has left on contemporary society, in the U.S. and around the world.

Because I'm an advocate of women speaking out, I'm a big fan of the blogosphere and believe that to effect change, women have to be empowered to speak, write, share, and listen to each other.

Q. I'm a blogger and I agree with what you're saying. Will you link to my blog?

A. It's a priority for me to connect women with the information they need, whether it comes from mainstream media outlets or the voices of individual women thinking about, debating, and discussing the major issues of the day, along with ongoing concerns that impact every woman's life.

I'm always happy to find new blogs written by women, and if you have a particularly powerful post or viewpoint on a topic of interest to women, send me a link and I'll take a look.

Q. Do you accept submissions of original articles and commentary?

A. I do on an infrequent basis. Email me if you're interested.
