Another friend once told me that what Mother's Day really needed was not appreciation expressed by offspring or spouses, but a mutual honoring of mothers by mothers - a celebration shared between female friends who've experienced the joyous achievements and the hard times of mothering together. One year this friend even went so far as to send a card out to her 'mommy' friends thanking them for being part of her motherhood circle. Though I've lost touch with that particular friend, I have in my greeting card stash a handful of Mother's Day cards that I keep meaning to send out to deserving friends, but still haven't...and it's been close to a decade.
The internet makes these impulses easier to satisfy. So when I learned that MomsRising.org had put together a unique way to recognize the "Mother of the Year" of your choice, I thought not of my own mother (who passed away a few years ago and didn't own a computer anyway) but of Sue. Here's the customized video I sent her, and it includes a link to create your own customized video for all the moms you love.

That is a very caring thing to do. It occurs to us to compliment our friends on their hair, clothing and such- but to say from one Mom to another- you’re doing a good job, means so very much. I will now pass along the gesture to my Mom friends, but I send you the best one to you Linda- as you are truly a wonderful, devoted Mother and I am thankful that you are my friend.
Thank you for posting about the video! Happy Mother’s Day!

Dear Nadya Suleman. You were blessed by so many children. We need to get rid of hatred, envy, and jealousy. They make dangerous toxins in our organisms and produce much stress. We are victims of our lack of self-esteem in the end. Let us calm down and give Peace a chance for our own health’s sake. Happy -OCTO-Mother’s Day!
