For women, there is no level of alcohol consumption can be considered safe.
Today we learned that a study of 1.2 million women in the UK over a seven-year period showed a significantly higher risk of cancer among women who had one drink a day as compared to teetotalers. This holds true especially especially for cancers of the breast, liver, rectum, mouth, throat, and esophagus.
This runs counter to many things we've heard up 'til now, including the idea that a glass of red wine can cut the risk of heart disease. The new study indicates that wine provides the same risk as hard liquor or beer.
So...will you still raise a glass of wine on your next GNO (girls' night out)?
