A couple of ways you can turn your holiday gift-giving into something that benefits us all:

Want to help NOW (National Organization for Women) but don't have the resources to make a donation? Shop at Amazon.com and a portion of your purchases can benefit NOW. Choose from books, video, music, electronics, textbooks, tools, housewares, toys and even gift cards. Just click through to shop through the NOW page at Amazon and complete your purchase within 24 hours. For the politically conscious feminist in your life, the NOW page provides staff recommendations on book titles.

NOW also has its own online store where you can purchase T-shirts, mugs, books, bumper stickers, buttons, books, watches, you name it...all with messages that support and enhance women's lives and achievements.

If online auctions are more your thing, then check out the Women's Media Center. Register at their auction site and bid on goods and services such as lunch in New York City with Gloria Steinem or CNN's Soledad O'Brien, or personally signed copies of books by feminist authors such as Robin Morgan and Gloria Feldt.

I'm always happy to pass along holiday gift-giving suggestions or links to non-profit sites that help women and promote women's issues. If you have any recommendations, send them to me.
