2008 Election Results Support Abortion Rights, Thwart Same-Sex Marriage

Friday November 7, 2008
In her post "Brief Election Recap: President, Senate, Governors and Initiatives," my colleague Kathy Gill of US Politics looks at how voters in several states responded to initiatives covering two volatile issues: abortion/definition of life and same-sex marriage. Here's her assessment of the first:
Will South Dakota's rejection of a ban on abortion -- and Colorado's rejection of a definition of life that begins at fertilization -- finally put this issue to bed? Roe v Wade is the law of the land and has been for much of my life. As others said a few years back, Move On.
Think those words are strong? See what Kathy has to say about the passage of all three bans on same-sex marriage that were voted on in California, Arizona, and Florida respectively.
