When Clinton Calls: Hillary's Valentine's Day Apology to Girlfriend

Friday February 15, 2008
Maybe it wasn't exactly what she wanted for Valentine's Day. But Michelle, the girlfriend of a producer on the road with Hillary Clinton, got a call from the Senator in the midst of Clinton's busy campaign schedule.

CBS News shows an extended clip taken inside an airplane as Clinton passed out chocolates, spoke of previous holidays spent with hubby Bill, and talked on the cell phone to Michelle:

I want to personally apologize to you that Fernando is with me and not with you on Valentine's Day. I'm really sorry about this, and then he told me you're sick, which makes it even worse, it's compounded. Well, I would love to be Fernando's second choice for Valentine's Day - thank you, and I hope you're feeling better."
Say what you will about whether or not the moment was sincere or contrived because I won't. Instead, my biggest concern is this: Aren't you supposed to keep your cell phone off during flight so it won't interfere with aircraft instruments?
